Tasked with designing, producing manufacturing drawings and assembling an end effector to be used at the end of a 6 d.o.f manufacturing robot that is able to automatically grab, orientate, place and release a cylindrical aluminium billet that was subsequently machined into a gearbox casing. The end effector had to be designed to interact with an inspection fixture and the jaws of the machine tool.
